The third blogspot, guess where! Yeap, Gurney Drive!! Gurney drive is also known as Pusat Penjaja Anjung Gurney. Gurney drive has started in the 1970’s, and also one of the largest hawker stalls over the years. it is place between Sunrise Tower and Gurney Plaza, anyone who wish to visit gurney drive, you are advise to reached earlier due to limited car park space. As for me, I would recommend to park in Gurney Plaza or Gurney Paragon, although it may be bit more pricy, but it is better than wasting time finding parking space.

Pasembur, Rojak, Cucur Udang.

Pasembur is a so call malay kind of rojak, that consists of shredded bangkuang (a white fleshed root vegetable with brown skin) that have a nature sweetness and also cucumber. Besides that, there are varieties of ingredient such as, boiled egg, potatoes, crab, fried bean curd, prawn, cuttlefish, fishballs and anything you mention! All this is served in a spicy and sweet nutty sauce.BUT, as an advise, ask for the prices first before taking it, it may end up a bomb for your wallet. Oh ya, this stall of Pasembur is also famous because he would sing and dances when he’s listen to the radio. I think it is one of his selling skills ?

Price: RM8 ( for normal pasembur )

Laksa
In Gurney Drive itself there are a few Asam Laksa stalls. I felt that the best laksa is stall number 11. The Laksa soup served there are full with fish, that makes the soup tasty and thick. In a bowl of Laksa, it is inclusive with vegetable, pineapple, cucumber, red onions and fish ball, but this is the only Laksa stall that served fish ball!! Har Kou (prawn paste) are  highly recommended because it adds a sweetness and depth to balance out the tanginess of the asam.

Oyster Omelette
Oyster Omelette or Oh Chien (fried oyster) is another must-have seafood on Penang island.

Ok, I need to admit. This is my favourite stall of Gurney Drive hawker stalls! Everything in this stall are fried, there are varieties of deep fried food such as, sausages, wan tan (dumpling), french fries, prawns, crab ball, meat balls and Chicken Skin !!!!!! Deep fried Chicken Skin is the best in town !!! Although it is deep fried, but no worries you definitely won’t taste that oily ewwww taste.

Oh yaa, you may take Rapid Penang Bus 304 or 103 to Gurney Plaza. It may not be the most convenient way, but that's the only public bus that goes directly there. Tell the bus driver you are going to Gurney Drive Hawker Centre so that he can alert you when you reach there. But, if you are taking a bus, do not hesitate to ask the taxi driver for the price before you board it. Enjoy!

New Lane is located at Macalister Road, an open air complex. One best thing that I really love this hawker stalls more then the others, is because it have enough parking place in Wisma Central. There are up to 50 stalls thats sells different varieties of food. Mostly locals will make their way to New Lane more then to Gurney Drive, as the hawker stalls here serve they best quality and affordable price.

Beef Noodle
This bowl of Beef noodle are the best!! Their soup are absolutely tasty, with a mouth full of beef taste. Every bowl of Beef noodle comes with tender and juicy beef chunks. Oh, no to forget to ask for their chilli sauce, adding chilli sauce makes the soup into a totally different unique taste.

Not to worry, there are no foul smelling intestines as they cleaned it properly.

Presgrave Street is a one way street, for whose who still not sure where it is located, it is at the left hand side of  Hotel Grand Continental, which is also near by Komtar. This place kinda sucks due to limited parking space! So, do start to look for one when you turn into Lebuh Presgrave. Although, this one way street have limited choice of food, BUT the food served here are so good that you may need to wait for the queue.

Hokkien Mee/ Loh Mee
This stall of Hokkien Mee, known as 888 Hokkien Mee, has another franchise at Bayan Buru Penang too ! I would visit here bit more often because Presgrave Street is located a round town area. Loh Bak
To have a plate of delicious Loh Bak, the key is to make sure that everything are fresh. Loh Bak is a marinated minced pork, that roll in thin soybean sheets and then deep fried till it’s brown and crispy. Usually are served with small bowl of Loh (a thick broth thickened with corn starch and beaten eggs) and chili sauce. My favourite are deep fried squid and prawn fritters, which are prepared upon order only to ensure freshness.

Wan Tan Mee
Wan Tan Mee is also known as Tok-tok Mee that are brought from Hong Kong long time ago, but then Malaysian has make it taste bit more tasty with thick and light soya sauce! That lorong (lane) are lined with local great street food, so you may not want to make your choice too quickly!

Wan Tan Mee can be soup based or dry, but I personally prefer the dry Wan Tan Mee the most. The dry Wan Tan Mee comes with thin egg noodles, dark and light soya sos, Char Xiu (marinated pork) slices and also fried wanton (dumplings). For some that do really love Wan Tan Mee should try the bigger portion, that are truly worthy for RM5 !

 Hainanese Satay

The Hainanese Satay is usually only known for the locals. There are not much of backpackers aware of the tiny hawker stall. As we talk about satay! The first thing that comes in our mind is chicken meat satay, BUT this what so special about this Hainanese Satay uses PORK! The Pork are marinated first, then skewered on a bamboo stick and grilled. Why it is so tasty? It is because the owner uses charcoal to grilled till it is done. The sauce is the best in town !! It is a different type of sauce that you can't get it anywhere else! Sweet potato sauce and peanut sauce are served without chilly. DEFINITELY 5 star rated!!!

Penang, no doubt, are well known as “food paradise” for the local Malaysian or even tourist.
Hawker food is an open-air complex, there are stalls that sells varieties of inexpensive food. Penang hawker stalls are pretty well known because these hawkers uses age-old family recipes (traditional) and not to mansion the olden days cooking method and skills too. To all hawker food stalls in Penang, food presentation are not a priority, but the quality of the food is a MUST.

I’m a person that gets hungry around the clock, that why Penang is my choice! There are hawker stalls that open till wee hours. Ok, I may stop introducing! Lets get into real food! In this very first “Supper Hunt” food blog. I would like to introduce to you guys Jelutong Food Market

Hokkien Mee

This stall has been selling for many years, I remember eating this uncle Hokkien Mee since I was age 10! The Hokkien Mee is comes with pig intestines, which most of the other Hokkien Mee stalls doesn’t. BUT what most important is the soup, this uncle Hokkien Mee soup is sweeter that because he uses prawns to cook the soup. It comes in a small portion, but it is enough for me as some girls may be like me dieting.

Price : Small - RM3.80, USD0.92
            Big - RM4.20, USD1
